"American Wolf:" Meet the author, Audrey Birnbaum

Audrey Birnbaum, acclaimed author of "American Wolf: From Nazi Refugee to American Spy", will be visiting the Danbury Library! She will share a presentation including archival and personal images of her father's escape from the Nazis as a young boy. She will also share how she was inspired to write his story.

The program will be 45 minutes to an hour long, and will include time for questions and discussion.

For students in Middle School and High School. Adults are also welcome!

The Housing Collective: Community Conversations

The Housing Collective has worked since 2006 to align communities and resources around collaborative regional responses to homelessness and housing affordability.

English as a Second Language Class for Adults

This class meets in-person  and is led by a certified English instructor in collaboration with Western Connecticut Regional Adult and Continuing Education (WERACE) at no cost.

We invite you to join our new book club in Spanish. We will meet every Monday beginning April 8 until June 10. Readers will have the opportunity to discuss the plot, characters as well as meet new people. 
This book club is open for native Spanish speakers as well as those who are learning Spanish and have a high intermediate understanding of the language. Participants will have the opportunity to read aloud to practice their pronunciation.

We will be reading With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo.

Japanese American Internment

Following the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, people on the West Coast worried that members of the region’s large Japanese American community might be working with Japan’s military to plan acts of sabotage. This session explores the backlash endured by Japanese Americans as the nation prepared for war.
