Makers and builders get hands on to turn ideas into real world objects.  Small scale robotics (like BattleBots) are one example of projects that are powered by single board computers (such as Raspberry Pi's or Arduino's) that are fun to learn as hobbies and can become profitable.  Google SketchUp is one of many 3D modeling/drawing apps for architectural, interior design, landscaping, film and even video game design!  SolidWorks is one of many 3D CAD (computer-aided design) apps that is used by hobbyists and professionals for manufacturing design, and even for driving 3D printers!

Free! Registration Required.
