Join historian Mark Albertson for an analysis of Abraham Lincoln’s first inaugural address. Lincoln had good command of the English language and his recitation is a pleasure to read from this perspective alone. However, the state of the country itself is significant, as it fractures, splits and separates into the Union and the Confederacy. This address will be viewed from the perspective of ongoing events in early 1861, as the Republic races along to war. This year marks the 160th anniversary of Lincoln’s inaugural address.

Mark Albertson is the historical research editor at Army Aviation magazine in Monroe, CT as well as the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America. In addition, Mark teaches history as an adjunct at Norwalk Community College Extended Studies Program and for the Lifetime Learners Institute.
