Journey back in time with Richard Webb to explore the darker side of life for the sailors, captains, and residents of Southport’s once thriving commercial harbor.  Drawing on rare documents from this period, we’ll discover how depression, opioid addiction, and more impacted the daily lives and industry of this Connecticut  coastal community.   

Richard Webb is an award-winning educator and a documentary filmmaker. He is also a featured presenter in the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Prohibition documentary Connecticut Goes Dry.  He has taught history at both the high school and college level for over 24 years.
