In this virtual workshop, attendees will explore the legendary dog sled race across Alaska known as the Iditarod. Attendees will learn about the history of dog sledding and the Iditarod as they complete their dedicated workbook. In addition, attendees will engage in fun, informational activities within their workbooks that highlight the dog breeds most used in mushing, the equipment mushers use, and iconic checkpoints along the actual Iditarod race route.

 

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have:

  • Explored history behind dog sledding and the Iditarod race route

  • Sourced images and facts online using their web browser and Bing

  • Learned powerful features in PowerPoint using their downloadable workbook

This virtual workshop will require each attendant to have access to a computer with internet access to participate.  Attendees under the age of 18 must have a parent/legal guardian sign electronic participation agreement and be present while their child joins the workshop.
