Learn basic reading, writing, speaking & listening skills at the library for free!

This class meets in-person  and is led by a certified English instructor in collaboration with Western Connecticut Regional Adult and Continuing Education (WERACE) at no cost. 

All participants must be at least 17 years of age to take part in the program and each participant must provide a copy of their photo ID.

Free! Registration is required as space is limited.

This class is designed for students who are at least at a low-intermediate level.

We invite you to join our new book club in Spanish. We will meet every Monday beginning April 8 until June 10. Readers will have the opportunity to discuss the plot, characters as well as meet new people. 
This book club is open for native Spanish speakers as well as those who are learning Spanish and have a high intermediate understanding of the language. Participants will have the opportunity to read aloud to practice their pronunciation.

We will be reading With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo.

Speedcubing Club

Come join us to learn all about speedcubing!  Beginners and experienced cubers are all welcome. An instructor will be on hand to teach you to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube or learn to solve it faster.

It's a great way to make new friends or keep up with old ones while enjoying a fun activity that also builds life skills.

The club is for students in Middle School and High School, ages 10 and up. Adults are also welcome!

Join us for an informative session presented by Master Gardener Elizabeth Lee, who will share her expertise and insights on everything you need to know to get started with your vegetable garden. From selecting the right vegetables for your space and climate to preparing the soil and caring for your plants.


In addition to traditional soil-based gardening techniques, we will also explore alternative methods such as aeroponic and hydroponic systems, including the innovative Tower Garden. Learn how these systems work and how they can help you maximize your garden's productivity with minimal space and resources.

Lawyers in Libraries: Free Legal Help

Are you looking for legal advice concerning your case, but don't know where to start?  Does your case involve landlord/tenant, immigration law, family law, employment, consumer rights, personal injury, or other areas of law? 

Danbury Library is pleased to partner with the Connecticut Bar Association to offer patrons the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an attorney for a private 20-minute session here at the library. This is a preliminary information session to guide patrons in the beginning portion of their cases. Please note, this session is a one-time, introductory appointment to the legal side of the situation. The attorney cannot meet with you more than once or outside of your appointment time.

Please bring any informational materials pertaining to your case so that the attorney can provide their best assistance. You will be required to sign a consent form about the limited services provided. Currently, sessions are provided in English only.

If you are an attorney who wants to provide pro bono services through the Lawyers in Libraries program, email FreeLegalAdviceClinic@ctbar.org. The CBA provides professional liability insurance for legal advice provided during a Lawyers in Libraries event.
